“Resistance is the nature of the mind, not that of the soul” whispered the voice I have come to recognise as the Self’.
For many years when I wasn’t flowing along the tide of life, I struggled and struggles followed me. I chose to flow as per my own ways. Sometimes “my flow” was dictated by my comforts and at other times by my desires.
There have been times when my flow was directed by influential beings in my life be it my Guru, parents, teachers, world leaders and so on. Somehow, flowing with the flow of someone standing in the space of authority didn’t always feel like flowing in my flow. And so I continued to un-flow. Stuck in the inability to really know what it is to flow.
For many years when I wasn’t flowing along the tide of life, I struggled and struggles followed me.
Nature in Flow
“Resistance is the nature of the mind, not that of the soul.” This didn’t really make sense till it actually occurred to me. Resisting the flow is tending against its very nature.
Have you ever swum against the tide? It’s quite a workout!! Good fun too and much of a challenge. If that’s not something you’re ready for though, I’d give it a second thought.
Breakthroughs can take place very cataclysmically or in subtler ways than that of the breath. I can’t recall now, whether mine was more of a cataclysm or a faint shift. Whatever it was, it moved me completely.
The walls of resistance crumbled spontaneously and revealed the floodgates through which flow just flowed. It didn’t matter whose flow it was, who it belonged to or where it came from. Flow felt right anyway, because it was the nature of flow.
Resistance is the nature of the mind, not that of the soul.
You see, when we flow with the flow or go with the flow, it is “THE flow” not “A flow.” Remember, primary school grade english class where Miss So-And-So taught us that “the” was used for something specific and “a” was used for something generic? It’s something of the sort.
Mr. Flow
The Flow or Mr. Flow as I like to call it, is a particular flow. He is the universal flow. He is The Flow of the Universe, that flows no matter what. Sometimes we like that flow and at other times not so much.
The flow we choose to flow with, (which is most convenient to us) is our flow, it’s “A Flow”; often mistaken to be the universal flow; Mr. Flow. Is this driving home a point or just sounding like gibberish?
It is human nature to resist The Flow when it seems, to our limited consciousness that life or a situation is flowing to our disadvantage. What is rarely understood or more so, accepted; is the Universe is far too intelligent to miss what’s best for us in the larger scheme of things.
Our perception is too tainted, to naive, too limited; to see how far the universe can see. If only we could shed the resistance to flow with The Flow, perhaps, just perhaps, the waves of Mr. Flow would gush through our lives!
“Resistance is the nature of the mind, not that of the soul” whispered the voice I have come to recognise as the Self.
